SPECIALIST BUILDING AND PRESERVATION CONTRACTOR
Providing cost effective damp proofing and basement conversions in South London and the home counties

ATRUSS PRESERVATION can provide as well as advise the best course of action to take in relation to providing any damp associated basement works.
The photos shown on the right relate to a basement conversion in Peckham London SE15. The property comprised of 3 bedrooms, although a basement the property was not below the water table and only one wall was beneath ground level.
In this case we used 2 coat Sika 1 rendering. Should the basement area been totaly submerged we would have used the Oldroyd X membrane. If the basement was below the water table and had on occasions filled with water we would have used a combination of Oldroyd Xv Clear, a pump and sump system as per clients specification and Aquadrain.
We have found many basements within the Balham SW12 / Clapham SW4 and Wandsworth SW18 areas to be below the water table.
Waterproofing Existing Basements using Oldroyd Xv Cavity Drainage Membrane
The Oldroyd Xv (formally CDM Clear) membrane system provides an exceptionally fast and convenient method of waterproofing walls, floors, and ceilings on new build and refurbishment projects. It is especially useful for waterproofing basements and underground structures, however, it can also be used to waterproof walls and floors above ground level.
The design of the system is such that an air gap is created between the highly water resistant membrane and the substrate. This gap enables the substrate to 'breathe' and equalises water vapour pressure. The membrane is attached to walls and ceilings by means of simple to fit, sealed fixing plugs. While on floors there is normally no need for any form of fixing.
London Basement Conversion Contractor
Basements are fast becoming as popular as an extension. In parts of London, stamp duty can be as much as £30K, add that to moving costs and the price of a larger home, many of our clients agree it makes better financial sense to convert an existing or create a new basement than move home.
Throughout South West London SW19, Fulham SW6, Clapham SW4, Wandsworth SW18 we have been adding further living space to properties without the need to extend any further.
The great advantage with basements is that they not only add a whole new floor, it's also space that can be used in many different ways. With a loft extension, the space is so far from the living areas that it can only really be used for bedrooms, studies or bathrooms.
Basements are close enough to the ground floor area to be used as playrooms, nanny bedrooms and bathrooms when a new baby arrives, living rooms, kitchens or accommodation for relatives.
With the demands of modern lifestyles, basements are increasingly being turned into leisure areas with home cinemas, pool and table tennis tables, home gyms or even swimming pools. You can also create an independent entrance or exit out into the back garden from the basement.
A basement creates a lot of extra space, which can be used for absolutely anything – it also frees up the rest of the house to use in different ways.
For example, many people put a utility room, shower and toilet in their basement, irrespective of what else they have planned for the space. Whether you are converting an existing damp dark basement into extra living space or the waterproofing in your basement is failing, ATRUSS PRESERVATION are the specialists you need to get the job done to your satisfaction.
Our installations are carried out to the highest standards and are covered by the most comprehensive guarantees available.
