Does your property need a new damp proof course?
A damp proof course is a horizontal barrier intended to stop ground moisture rising through masonry. A remedial chemical DPC may be considered where the original barrier is absent, ineffective or has been compromised and the evidence supports rising damp.
Low-level damp does not automatically mean the DPC has failed. High external ground, internal screeds, render or debris can bridge an existing barrier; leaks and penetrating moisture can also cause similar symptoms. Atruss Preservation checks these factors before recommending injection work.

Prepare & drill
Expose the working area where required and drill at the spacing and depth specified for the chosen system.
Inject the DPC
Introduce specialist damp-proofing cream or fluid to form a new moisture-resistant barrier within the wall.
Reinstate finishes
Replace affected salt-contaminated plaster where required and complete the agreed making-good work.

Questions about new damp proof course installation
When might a new damp proof course be needed?
A remedial DPC may be appropriate where investigation supports rising damp and the original barrier is missing, ineffective or compromised. Other moisture sources should be considered before treatment is specified.
How is a chemical damp proof course installed?
Holes are drilled at suitable intervals in a selected mortar joint. A specialist damp-proofing cream or fluid is then introduced in accordance with the chosen system and the construction of the wall.
Does the wall need replastering after DPC injection?
Plaster affected by persistent moisture and salts may need to be removed and replaced. The necessary extent depends on its condition and the agreed remedial specification.
Can high ground levels bridge an existing DPC?
Yes. External paving, soil or render can provide a route for moisture to bypass an otherwise functional DPC. Where bridging is the main cause, lowering ground levels or another targeted repair may be more appropriate than injection alone.
How soon can walls be redecorated?
