What is Rising Damp?

It usually affects ground floor walls and can rise up to around 1 metre in height, often showing signs near skirting boards and corners of walls. Proper diagnosis is essential, as damp problems are often misidentified and require the correct treatment to resolve them effectively.

Rising Damp Treatment Process in London

The installed damp proof course prevents moisture continuing to rise into the walls, however, due to the effects of the ground salts, the walls will not dry out effectively unless the existing wall plaster is removed and replaced using a salt retardant rendering system, such as Vandex's premix waterproof rendering system. Where high ground levels exist, our structural waterproofing or tanking system may also be required in conjunction with the chemical damp proofing. We offer a comprehensive service to home owners and property professionals or can work with your builder to undertake the specialist damp proofing as part of their programme of works. Treatment is undertaken by our own skilled workmen. Typically, treatment involves removal of the skirting boards and wall plaster on the walls to be treated. The wall plaster is removed to a height of approximately one metre, however depending on the salts within the masonry and several other factors, the height of the necessary replastering may be increased and will be individually specified once our surveyor has carried out an inspection of your property. Replastering above one metre high is not uncommon. The damp proof course is installed into the walls by pattern drilling the masonry at the base of the wall and injecting a specially formulated solution of siliconate injection fluid, until the entire depth of the wall is fully impregnated. The walls are then replastered using a premix waterproof rendering system, which is purpose designed to provide a salt retardant, waterproof render to combat the effects of the ground salts in the masonry and provide a dry internal finish. Following the application of the waterproof rendering system, we will apply top coat skim plaster to provide a smooth finish. Our installations are carried out to the highest standards and are covered by the most comprehensive guarantees available

LONDON DAMP PROOFING SPECIALISTS

Basements are fast becoming as popular as an extension. In parts of London, stamp duty can be as much as £30K, add that to moving costs and the price of a larger home, many of our clients agree it makes better financial sense to convert an existing or create a new basement than move home.

Throughout South West London SW19, Fulham SW6, Clapham SW4, Wandsworth SW18 we have been adding further living space to properties without the need to extend any further. We are the south london basement company to deal with! The great advantage with basements is that they not only add a whole new floor, it's also space that can be used in many different ways. With a loft extension, the space is so far from the living areas that it can only really be used for bedrooms, studies or bathrooms. Basements are close enough to the ground floor area to be used as playrooms, nanny bedrooms and bathrooms when a new baby arrives, living rooms, kitchens or accommodation for relatives.

SPECIALIST RISING DAMP CONTRACTOR

With the demands of modern lifestyles, basements are increasingly being turned into leisure areas with home cinemas, pool and table tennis tables, home gyms or even swimming pools. You can also create an independent entrance or exit out into the back garden from the basement. A basement creates a lot of extra space, which can be used for absolutely anything – it also frees up the rest of the house to use in different ways. For example, many people put a utility room, shower and toilet in their basement, irrespective of what else they have planned for the space.

Whether you are converting an existing damp dark basement into extra living space or the waterproofing in your basement is failing, Our installations are carried out to the highest standards and are covered by the most comprehensive guarantees available.
